Overview

GEO - optimizing visibility in AI search.

GEO - category overview

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is optimizing a page for AI-generated answers, not just classic results. The goal: when Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini answer a question in your field, they cite you.

One optimized page - four citing platforms

Why a separate category

Classic SEO fights for a position on the list. GEO fights to be the source of the answer. The differences are practical:

SEO GEO
Unit of success position / click citation / mention
Key format page optimized for a phrase fragment that answers a question
Technical signals crawl, indexing access for AI crawlers, llms.txt
Measurement GSC, positions share of voice in AI answers

Running the analysis

/seo geo your-domain.com

The analysis covers:

  • Access for AI crawlers - whether GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot are allowed in (robots.txt, content signals).
  • 0 - presence and consistency of the content index for models.
  • Fragment-level citability - whether sections answer questions directly, with data and sources.
  • Brand signals - consistency of the mentions models use to recognize authority.
  • Per-platform optimization - AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Bing Copilot have different source preferences.
